parippu payasam/parippu pradhaman/dal pudding

Parippu Payasam/Dal Pudding
split mung dal 1cup washed &dried
jaggery 500gm
coconut milk 1 bottle(400ml)
2 cup water
coconut fresh sliced thinly
cashew nuts few
raisins few
cardamom 4-5
ginger powder 1/4 tsp(optional)
nutmug 1/4 tsp (optional)

in a heavy bottom pan heat few tbs ghee and roast the coconut pieces, then the cashew, then raisins & keep it aside.

now add the split mung dal and fry this in the ghee until its turn light brown, now add 2 cup water and 1/2 cup coconut milk+ cardamom &other spices, alllow the dal to cook,stir in between.
same time melt jaggery in 1/2cup water and sieve and add to the dal mixture.
once the dal cooked add the rest of the coconut milk & just allow to start boil , now add the fried coconut pieces, cashew nuts&raisins. switch off the flame. serve hot or cold with some pappad &banana.

(you can substitute bottle coconut milk with fresh coconut milk if available.)

Dal Fritters/ Parippu Vada

Dal Fritters/Parippu Vada

Bengal gram split/kadala parippu 2 cup
(Soak it for 2 hours) then grind it coarse. ( don’t add any water to grind ,don’t over grind)

Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Green chilly 4-5 sliced
Curry leaves few
Ginger 1 inch sliced
Salt to taste
Add all these ingredients to the dal mix and mix well . Then make small ball & press down with your palm. Deep fry this into medium hot oil. Cook both sides until it’s turn golden yellow colour,drain extra oil using a kitchen towel. Enjoy with a hot coffee or tea.
